Road
bikes are bicycles designed for um, road use. These are the bikes
that conjure up images of the classic drop handlbar ten speeds.
Today's models have twelve, eighteen, and twenty-four speeds.
They're great for people who want to burn fat and see half the town
doing it. The way the rider's body slides right into them is also
appealing.
If we're talking about road bicycles, we've got
to talk about racing bikes and touring bikes.
Both of these have some common characteristics:
-
Drop handlbars (those curved ones) - Large wheels w/
thin tires - Lightweight design (around twenty pounds
but can go above 30 on tourers)
These speed machines will take you on fast
sprints and climb hills like a champ.
They're great for getting fit because the harder you pedal the
faster you go,which is fun right?
What they won't do for you
is take the shortcut through a construction zone ortear down that
hill in your backyard (unless it's a mountain hybrid). Ifyou're
someone who really wants comfort (sissy) or just needs a bike to get
youaround town, this type probably isn't the right choice.
My advice to you guys is to check out the mountain and
cruiser pages of this site. They might fit your style a little
better.

Management is not accepting medical bills resulting from injuries
sustained at extremely high speeds. But you can give me credit for
all the fun you'll have before hand!
